We hoped to learn two things from our local interview group – the benefits of being in Garfield and the attitudes to in-comers. To accomplish this we sought people with strong attitudes towards newcomers (both good and bad), and people with strong attitudes towards the neighborhood (both good and bad). We added to this a layer of experiences, including professional, non-professional, entrepreneur and mother.
The interviews were conducted more as a conversation than a series of questions, in order not to elicit specific responses. The conversation revolved around these underlying questions.
