18 June 2008 | New Hazlett Theater | 6:30 p.m.
What’s not to rock? Three women – all strong, opinionated and wildly different. We’ll give you a brief glimpse into their fascinating lives and the passions that drive them. Moderated, of course, by a woman.
And with performances to boot, by ‘betty’, an all-female band assembled from members of some of the best local bands, and an impromptu set by liz berlin, playing songs off her most recent album.
Our speakers are award-winning author of When Smoke Ran Like Water, Devra Lee Davis, Ph.D., who heads up the world’s first Center on Environmental Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute; Liz Berlin, who, together with Rusted Root, has toured the country with Santana, The Allman Brothers, Sting, The Dave Matthews Band, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, and The Grateful Dead among many others; and Bev Smith, who began her television and radio career in 1971 when she was named Pittsburgh’s first African-American Consumer Affairs Investigative Reporter for WPXI Television and is recognized nationally as one of the most important radio talk show hosts in America.
Our moderator, Yvonne Campos is a nationally known focus group moderator, and Owner and CEO of Campos Inc., a market research firm in Pittsburgh specializing in immersive research, focus groups and moderation.
