What’s not to rock? Three women – all strong, opinionated and wildly different. We’ll give you a brief glimpse into their fascinating lives and the passions that drive them. Moderated, of course, by a woman.
And with performances to boot, by ‘betty’, an all-female band assembled from members of some of the best local bands, and an impromptu set by liz berlin, playing songs off her most recent album.
Our speakers are award-winning author of When Smoke Ran Like Water, Devra Lee Davis, Ph.D., who heads up the world’s first Center on Environmental Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute; Liz Berlin, who, together with Rusted Root, has toured the country with Santana, The Allman Brothers, Sting, The Dave Matthews Band, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, and The Grateful Dead among many others; and Bev Smith, who began her television and radio career in 1971 when she was named Pittsburgh’s first African-American Consumer Affairs Investigative Reporter for WPXI Television and is recognized nationally as one of the most important radio talk show hosts in America.
Our moderator, Yvonne Campos is a nationally known focus group moderator, and Owner and CEO of Campos Inc., a market research firm in Pittsburgh specializing in immersive research, focus groups and moderation.
Cocktails and conversation to follow. Show your love!

In a time where the ultimate resources are ideas, connections and innovation, how can we facilitate these very things? How can creativity be used to bolster the socio-cultural, knowledge and creative capital of a city? This session will look at the power of creativity to engender self-organizing, self-generating means of exchange among citizens.
A panel of international leaders working in various creative disciplines will talk about their own experiences and what they’ve learned that can be put to work in cities everywhere. Co-hosted by CEOs for Cities and cityLIVE!, and sponsored by Pop City, this event will be open to meeting attendees and the people of Pittsburgh.
Our panelists include Joyce Bromberg, director of WorkSpace Futures Research at Steelcase Inc., who oversees a team of Human Centered Design Researchers which look at vertical markets like Healthcare and Higher Education and who conduct ‘pioneering research’ for new product development; Ben Self, a founding partner of Blue State Digital, a consulting firm that specializes in creating web strategy and technology for political organizations, candidates, and non-profits; Johann Zietsman, who has nurtured a life-long passion for the transformative value and role of the arts in a community and moved to the USA from South Africa in 2002 to run the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA), based in NY, and then to Mesa, AZ, in 2007, where he now serves as Executive Director of the Mesa Arts Center, and Director of Arts and Culture for the city of Mesa; and Carol Coletta, who is president and CEO of CEOs for Cities and host and producer of the nationally syndicated public radio show Smart City.
